A new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet revealed two new eye-catching legendaries on Wednesday, but a much smaller, rounder pocket monster has stolen the spotlight. Its name? "Lechonk."

The normal-type hog Pokemon appears briefly in the second official trailer for the new duo of Pokemon games, which are due out Nov. 18. The Lechonk, which is level 2, walks out of a patch of grass and uses the move tackle.

"LECHONK GETS A VERY BIG YES FROM ME," wrote one person in the comments under the trailer.

The appeal of this Pokemon appears to be twofold. For one, its name is ridiculous in the best possible way. And with its stoutness and yellow teardrop designs under its eyes, viewers are pointing out the obvious: "Lechonk is already the cutest Pokemon in this gen to me," another person wrote in a YouTube comment.

The Lechonk love is very real.

"Lechonk is 100% going to be on my team," said one future Pokemon wielder in the comments. "A Pokemon being named LECHONK is truly a historical moment," wrote another.

The new trailer also highlighted multiplayer options in the game and the legendary Pokemon Koraidon (Scarlet) and Miraidon (Violet). Here's every new Pokemon we know of so far, including, of course, Lechonk. Evolved forms of Lechonk (if there are any) are yet to be determined, but that hasn't stopped people from speculating. "I hope Lechonk evolves into Lethicc," wrote one person under the trailer.

How to Get Shiny Meltan in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go's TCG crossover event ends at 8 p.m. local time today, June 30, which means time is running out to get a handful of special Pokemon -- including shiny Meltan. This shiny mythical Pokemon will be appearing (albeit rarely) until the TCG event ends, making this your last chance to catch one for the foreseeable future.

Unlike other mythical Pokemon, Meltan is primarily found by opening the Mystery Box -- a special item you can only receive by transferring Pokemon to either Pokemon Home or one of the Pokemon: Let's Go games on Nintendo Switch. Here's everything you need to know about how to catch Meltan.

What is Meltan?

Meltan is a steel-type mythical Pokemon that can only be caught in Pokemon Go. There are two ways to encounter Meltan: by completing the "Let's Go, Meltan" Special Research task line, or by opening a special item called the Mystery Box.

How to get the Mystery Box

Unlike most other items in Pokemon Go, you can't acquire the Mystery Box from the in-game shop. Rather, you must transfer one of your Pokemon from Go to Pokemon Home or Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu / Let's Go, Eevee to obtain it.

Once you've made your first transfer, the Mystery Box will automatically be added to your inventory. However, it has a few noteworthy restrictions. After you open the Mystery Box, it will remain active for 60 minutes, during which time Meltan will spawn on the map. Once the time has elapsed, the box will close, and you'll need to wait three days and make another transfer before you can open it again (although the wait period is often reduced during special events).

How to evolve Meltan into Melmetal

Another aspect that sets Meltan apart from other mythical Pokemon is the fact it can evolve. Once you've obtained 400 Meltan candies, you can evolve it into a powerful steel-type Pokemon called Melmetal. This evolution can only be triggered in Pokemon Go, so if you're hoping to use Meltmetal in other Pokemon games like Sword and Shield, you'll need to evolve Meltan before transferring it over.

Since Meltan has such a steep candy requirement, you'll need to catch as many of them as you can while the Mystery Box is open if you're hoping to evolve it. You can maximize you amount of candy you receive by feeding a Pinap Berry to a wild Meltan before catching it. You can also expedite the process by converting any Rare Candy you have into Meltan candy.

How to get shiny Meltan

Whereas most shiny Pokemon remain available in Pokemon Go after they've been introduced to the game, shiny Meltan only appears during special events like the Pokemon TCG crossover, so you don't want to miss your chance to catch one while you can.

Unfortunately, there's no real way to ensure you encounter a shiny Meltan, so whether or not you get one ultimately comes down to luck. Your best bet to find one is to open the Mystery Box as many times as you can during the event and catch every Meltan that appears. This will maximize your chances of coming across a shiny Meltan.

Best moves for Melmetal

Like many other mythical Pokemon in the game, Melmetal's move pool is fairly shallow. Your only option when it comes to Fast Attacks is Thunder Shock, making it the best choice by default.

The overall best Charged Attack for Melmetal is Hyper Beam, as it deals the most damage per second. Another good option, however, is the steel-type move Flash Cannon. Melmetal will receive a same-type attack bonus from the attack, but it takes longer to charge up than Hyper Beam.

Navigating foreclosure: How to find help, repair your credit and bounce back

The COVID-19 pandemic -- and its economic fallout -- have put millions of homeowners at risk of losing their homes. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau industry data in April showed that almost 3 million homeowners are behind on their mortgage payments. 

While the CARES Act provided temporary relief for homeowners, its moratorium on foreclosures ended on July 31. Although this means lenders can proceed with the foreclosure process, a moratorium on foreclosure-related evictions has been put in place by the Federal Housing Administration until Sept. 30. The White House has also extended the forbearance enrollment period for federally backed mortgages through Sept. 30, giving homeowners more time to enroll in housing protections that could last for up to 12 months.  

That said, some homeowners are still facing the resumption of monthly mortgage payments that have been paused for over a year -- and as a result, a mountain of debt.

If you own a home and are concerned about making mortgage payments, it's important to understand the foreclosure process. We'll walk you through everything you need to know -- from the best practices for avoiding it to surviving the aftermath.

What is a foreclosure? 

Foreclosure starts when a homeowner has missed payments for a certain length of time -- usually, 90 to 120 days. At this point, the lender will attempt to recoup what they're owed on a mortgage. Once you're a few months late on your mortgage payment, the lender will put your loan into default.

If you don't make your mortgage payments for, say, three months, your lender can start a legal process to take ownership of your home in order to sell it. This allows them to get some of the money you still owe on your mortgage back.

The steps of the foreclosure process vary from state to state. 

The foreclosure process

Foreclosure doesn't happen overnight. Your mortgage lender is required to notify you well in advance of when your home officially enters foreclosure -- also known as preforeclosure. 

Preforeclosure

After you miss one mortgage payment, you might enter a preforeclosure period, but you often have another month to pay the balance owed before the bank takes serious action. 

"Making your mortgage payment after the 1st of the month won't be considered late," says James McCann, branch manager at Cornerstone First Mortgage. "Most mortgage servicers won't charge a late fee until the 15th of the month and even when they do, it's usually nominal. Mortgage payments aren't reported late until the 30th of the month."

At that point, your lender sends you a notice. Whether you just needed a little extra time or making the payment simply slipped your mind, if you make your missed payment at this time, the preforeclosure process stops. You'll probably need to pay a late fee and your credit score might take a hit, though.

If you miss two mortgage payments, the letters become more serious. At this stage, you'll receive a demand letter requesting the missed payments. You can still stop the foreclosure process at this point by sending in the money you owe right away.

After three to four months of missed payments (varies by lender), you'll get a notice of default. This notice will usually lay out a grace period (often 90 days) during which you can make up the money you owe to avoid foreclosure. This grace period is called the reinstatement period. If you don't take advantage of this final window to get caught up on your missed payments, your lender officially starts foreclosure.

Foreclosure

At this point, your mortgage lender starts the process of taking ownership of your home. This works because mortgages are secured loans, which means they're backed by collateral -- in this case, your home. 

When homeowners are unable to continue making mortgage payments, lenders start the foreclosure process to take back their collateral. Foreclosure ends with the lender either selling the home or adding it to their real estate portfolio. This allows the lender to recoup the money the homeowner was unable to pay. 

Types of foreclosures 

There are three different types of foreclosures, but processes will vary depending on where you live. Most states employ one of the first two types of foreclosures: 

Judicial foreclosure

A judicial foreclosure is an option in all states. During this process, the lender files a lawsuit with the court to initiate the foreclosure process. The homeowner then gets a notice of the suit in the mail and has 30 days to pay all of the money they owe. If they don't, the local sheriff's office or the court will sell the house at an auction and give the proceeds to the lender. 

Power of sale

Also called a statutory foreclosure, this type of foreclosure is legal in most states, provided your mortgage has a power of sale clause. This clause says that if your mortgage lender demands payment and you continue to fail to pay for the period of time laid out in the clause, the lender can sell the home to recoup their money. 

Strict foreclosure

The rarest type of foreclosure, strict foreclosure, is often avoided unless the outstanding mortgage amount is greater than the property's current value. The process is similar to a judicial foreclosure in that the lender files a lawsuit, but rather than selling the property at auction, the property enters the lender's real estate portfolio once the foreclosure is complete. 

Avoiding foreclosure

Foreclosures are stressful. But you can often avoid foreclosure, especially if you take steps as soon as you struggle to make your mortgage payments. Here are some tips to help with avoiding foreclosure.

Talk to your lender ASAP

Lenders don't want you to enter into foreclosure. They would much rather have you continue to make your payments (allowing them to make income off your mortgage's interest). If you're struggling to make a payment, reach out to see what support your lender can provide. 

"Talk with your current mortgage servicer to see if there's anything they can do to help," McCann says. "Your lender might offer a loan modification or forbearance plan that would allow you to lower or pause your payments." 

Consider selling

With real estate property values at notably high levels in many regions, homeowners who think they won't be able to keep up with their mortgage payments can consider selling before they end up in a foreclosure situation. With the proceeds from your home sale, you can pay off the outstanding balance of your mortgage and avoid foreclosure -- and the eviction and major hit to your credit score that comes with it. 

You don't necessarily go back to renting, either. McCann recommends working with a realtor to find out if you can downsize to reduce your monthly mortgage payment.

Explore a refinance

With mortgage rates at historic lows right now, refinancing can help you get through a financially challenging season -- and save you money over the life of your loan. Refinancing could allow you to lock in a lower rate, reducing your monthly mortgage payment.

"You can often time your refinance to skip a mortgage payment, which could give you a little time to get back on your feet," McCann says.

You might be able to get a short refinance, which means your lender forgives some of your outstanding balance, then refinances the rest.

Foreclosure assistance programs

There are also assistance programs that can serve as helpful tools in avoiding foreclosure. 

Until Sept. 30, you can enroll in a forbearance program if you have a federally held mortgage, e.g., FHA, VA, USDA and some Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae home loans. 

While federal programs beyond the COVID-19 forbearance are currently lacking, you can also get help from a housing counselor. You can click your state on their map to find information about foreclosure avoidance counselors near you. It's well worth choosing one approved by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to help avoid foreclosure scams. 

Beware of foreclosure assistance scams

Unfortunately, unsavory individuals and organizations often take advantage of people facing financial hardship and foreclosures. And they may do it under the guise of old programs. Be wary of mortgage assistance from groups that recommend expired assistance programs like the FHA Home Affordable Program or the Making Home Affordable program. Although these programs are legitimate, they were established to help after the subprime mortgage crisis of 2008 and aren't accepting new applicants.

Surviving foreclosure

Avoiding foreclosure isn't always possible -- and it's not a financial death sentence. If none of the above resources can help you avoid foreclosure, your first step should be to find safe housing for yourself and anyone who lives with you.

From there, work on establishing a consistent income stream and building up your savings. Your credit score will take a dive after your foreclosure, but managing your money responsibly -- paying your bills on time and making sure you don't use too much of your other available credit, including credit cards -- will help you to rebuild it. From there, it's a waiting game. After seven years, the foreclosure will fall off your credit report and you'll have a fresh start again.

Smartphone ownership reaches critical mass in the U.S.

While debate rages over whether Android devices, iPhones, BlackBerrys, or Windows Phones are better, there's no question that people increasingly prefer smartphones to feature phones.

And the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project just released the numbers to back that up.

In the U.S., 56 percent of adults are now smartphone owners, according to a study published Wednesday by Pew. This is the first time since Pew began tracking the numbers that the majority of the population owns a smartphone.

Currently 91 percent of people in the U.S. own a cell phone and 35 percent have some sort of feature phone.

People of all ages appear to be snapping up smartphones. While young adults are the highest adopters with around 80 percent owning a smartphone, people 65 and older are also increasingly choosing smart over feature phones. According to Pew, 18 percent of people ages 65 and older own a smartphone -- compared with 13 percent a year ago.

So, what type of device are people choosing?

It appears that Android has a slight edge. Twenty-eight percent of all U.S. cell phone owners have an Android device, while 25 percent own an Apple iPhone, according to Pew. BlackBerry lags behind with 4 percent ownership and Windows even further with 1 percent. According to Pew, high-income people are more likely to buy an iPhone, while people across all spectrums choose Android.

"Android and iPhone owners are equally common within the cell owner population as a whole, although this ratio differs across various demographic groups," Pew's Aaron Smith wrote in the study. "Cell phone owners from a wide range of educational and household income groupings have similar levels of Android adoption, but those from the upper end of the income and education spectrum are much more likely than those with lower income and educational levels to say they own an iPhone. Indeed, fully half -- 49 percent -- of cell owners with a household income of $150,000 or more say their phone is an iPhone."

LG's Rumored Rollable Phone Shows Up in a YouTube Video

LG left the smartphone business a year ago, but left one big mystery behind: the rollable phone it teased at CES 2021. Now a video on YouTube may have revealed a working version of the device in the wild.

The LG Rollable, as we assumed it would be called, first appeared in the company's CES press conference, which showed the phone's display smoothly extend -- but so smoothly that it could've been CG magic. The LG Rollable in the YouTube video surfacing today looks real, though, and the screen even looks responsive to touch commands. Other factors in the video like reflections make it even more likely that this is the real deal, as The Verge pointed out. 

It's tough to tell how functional this version of the LG Rollable is, meaning it could be a prototype with only a working display or a market-ready version. The short video does show us that the back of the LG Rollable has three cameras and a flash, though neither are used, nor do we see any software but the home screen. Given LG intended to release the Rollable in 2021, this could be closer to the final version of the phone.

Twitter Unveils 8-Bit Game to Explain Updated Privacy Policy

Twitter  is rolling out its updated privacy policy, and to help people better understand the changes, it's introduced a game. In Twitter Data Dash, unveiled Wednesday, players are invited to go on a pixelated adventure with a cute dog named Data.

The social media platform urges you to explore the Twitterverse by strolling to PrivaCity and avoiding its perils. After choosing a character, you (and Data) will have to avoid cat ads and nasty trolls and "swim through a sea" of direct messages. Once you collect enough bones, you're able to level up. But the bones also offer lessons in Twitter's privacy policy. For example, after you obtain them all for round one, you receive a message explaining how and why Twitter collects information. 

"We use information about what you do on Twitter -- like profile activity and the Topics you follow -- to customize your experience, including the ads you see," it reads. The message also explains how "personal ads" that are enabled on your account affect what you see when you're on or off the platform. 

Twitter on Wednesday said it "emphasized clear language and moved away from legal jargon" in its revamped privacy policy. People can look over the updated policies in Settings on the Twitter app or on the social network's redesigned privacy policy site. 

Twitter's privacy policy covers topics including what data it collects, how data is used and when data is shared, as well as ways for people to control their experience on the social network.

Tons of teenagers are heading on theaters dressed to the nines, all to see the latest Minions flick, Rise of Gru. The Gentleminions craze -- a trend from TikTok that sees young men put on suits and sit for screenings -- has been in headlines for ushering teens into Minions screenings and for reportedly prompting disturbances at some theaters. You may have spotted the trend on social media or even crossed paths with a tie-clad moviegoer while seeing the family flick in person. Whatever brings you here, you probably have questions.

Minions: The Rise of Gru debuted on Friday after delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It had the best opening for an animated film during the pandemic, securing a four-day total of $125 million during the long holiday weekend. Here's what to know about the Gentleminions trend, including what it is, why teens are taking part in it and the controversy surrounding this dedicated swath of Minions moviegoers. 

What is the Gentleminions trend?

According to viral TikTok videos, the Gentleminions trend involves donning a nice suit, gathering with some buddies willing to do the same and striding confidently into a Rise of Gru screening. You do look dapper, after all.

It gets even more absurd. Some snuck in bushels of bananas, while others joined a circle of people bowing to a Minion mascot outside of a theater. It's hard to tell just how many people have participated in the trend, because the videos aren't grouped under one TikTok sound or hashtag. Lots of videos, like the two mentioned above, use the song Rich Minion by rapper Yeat. TikToks tagged with #Gentleminions have overall amassed 28 million views.

It isn't entirely clear why suits are the choice here. The 12-year-old version of Gru that appears in the movie is dressed in all black, but his top looks more like a more casual jacket with buttons (aka, not a suit jacket). The adult version of Gru wears a jacket with a zipper. The minions, as we all know, rock overalls. 

On July 1, Universal voiced support for the Gentleminions craze via Twitter: "To everyone showing up to @Minions in suits: we see you and we love you," the studio wrote.

A large portion of the audience for the movie during its opening weekend -- 34% -- was between the ages of 13 and 17, according to exit polling service PostTrak. The Hollywood Reporter, which reported the PostTrak stats, said the last film in the franchise, Despicable Me 3, had 8% by comparison.

Why are teens taking part in the trend?

Some teens participating in the trend seem excited to see another Minions/Despicable Me film after a prolonged wait. (Despicable Me 3 premiered five years ago, in the summer of 2017). Users wrote in their videos that they "waited five years for this" and that "the five year wait is over."

One Gentleminons participant told Variety: "I'm sure a majority of people in my generation -- because we grew up with the 'Despicable Me' movies --  now have nostalgia and enough money to see it on our own." 

I'd also imagine it's also fun to participate in a meme and recruit your friends for some innocent shenanigans. At its purest level, the trend seems like an excuse to get friends together for a movie. Unfortunately, some participants appear to have taken a more disruptive route.

Has the Gentleminions trend caused issues at theaters?

Gentleminions participants are reported to have caused disturbances in at least two theaters. According to the BBC, a theater on the island of Guernsey in the English Channel canceled screenings of the film after moviegoers following the trend participated in "vandalism, throwing objects and abusing staff." The news outlet also reported that a UK cinema stopped admitting "unaccompanied children wearing suits" to Minions screenings, and cinema staff said attendees had been making loud noises during the film.

"It's been absolutely heartbreaking," the Guernsey theater's manager told the BBC. "We've had families who won't even go back into the screen when we've tried to sort it out, families leaving before the film has even started, and of course the children have been in tears."

During my social media scroll, I did come across two videos that appeared to show attendees jumping up and down during a screening and yelling loudly in a movie theater bathroom. 

What is Rise of Gru about?

According to Universal, Minions: The Rise of Gru shows how a 12-year-old Gru first met his quirky yellow henchmen. When Gru gets himself in hot water after angering a supervillian group called the Vicious 6, the minions step in to help.
