With social distancing guidelines in place, smartphones have become vital tools for staying connected with friends and family. As a thank you to first responders, Samsung and Google have teamed up with uBreakiFix to offer free smartphone repairs to those on the front lines.

Samsung announced last Monday that its Free Repairs for the Frontline initiative will offer free smartphone repair services to health care workers and other first responders with valid ID through June 30. This service will include common smartphone repairs like fixing cracked screens and battery replacement. All first responders are eligible for one free repair on their Samsung smartphone at any participating uBreakiFix location or by mail in.

The electronics giant is also offering special discounts of up to 30% off any purchases at Samsung.com for first responders and health care workers. More details on the program can be found on Samsung's site.

uBreakiFix announced Friday in a blog post that Google now offers a similar repair program to first responders on any Pixel model. This program allows any emergency responder with a valid ID to receive one free repair on their Pixel phone, regardless of the type of damage at any participating uBreakiFix location. This program also runs through June 30.

To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, uBreakiFix also offers contactless curbside services, mail-in options and at-home repairs to help maintain social distancing. More details on scheduling a repair appointment can be found on uBreakiFix's site.
